Google prepares for TV launch

(Telecompaper) Google will launch its new service to bring web content to TV screens in the US this autumn and worldwide next year, CEO Eric Schmidt at the Ifa trade show in Berlin. Google will work with a variety of programme makers and electronics manufacturers to bring the TV service to consumers, but does not plan to get into content production, Schmidt told journalists after his keynote speech. According to a report from Reuters, Schmidt also said Google would announce partnerships later this year with makers of tablet computers that would use Google's new Chrome operating system, due to be launched soon, rather than its Android software that has been used for mobile devices until now.

Our services can be provided both at our customers premises as well as inhouse using our own project support facilities operated by our experienced IT Engineering Group. For our main customer ESA, we are currently seeking for two engineers to support The logistics and project activities during the GALILEO Launch Campaigns at CSG in Kourou, French Guyana, Tasks and responsibilities The postholders will support the Launch Services Manager in the Space Segment of the GALILEO Project, Navigation Department, Directorate of the Galileo Programme and Navigation related activities and will work in close in coordination with the Galileo Project Management Support Office PMSO. Contributing to the overall GALILEO Launch Campaign definition and optimisation. Supervision of the storage and office facilities assigned to the GALILEO Launch Campaigns and of the GALILEO equipment stored and installed herein in between the Campaigns. Providing logistics support to the ESA and Industry Teams during the GALILEO Launch Campaigns. Ensuring that logistics and related technical problems are identified in time and resolved in an efficient manner. Liaising and supporting the ESA GALILEO Launch Services Manager and the Mission Manager during the Launch Campaigns. Interfacing with the relevant personnel of Arianespace, CNES, and of the ESA at CSG office related to the logistics required for the GALILEO Launch Campaigns. Participating in the Campaign related daily meetings and in Campaign Reviews. Supporting other project disciplines on site as appropriate to maximise the efficiency in executing the GALILEO launches. Regularly reporting to the GALILEO Launch Services Manager on all matters related to Launch Campaign logistics at CSG. Profile Applicants for this post shall have a university degree or equivalent qualification in the space engineering area. Substantial experience in launch campaign management from payload and from launcher side is a must. The ability to work rigorously in line with the established planning is required to perform this post. Proven ability to work in a team and to perform the work independently in a launch base environment. This post requires a very flexible working time planning and requires work in shifts. For this post and in view of the working environment at CSG, a good knowledge of the French language is required.
