Am vergangenen Donnerstag trafen sich die Koordinatoren der Naturschutzinitiative Grünes Band Europa mit Vertretern der Regionen, die an das Grüne Band Europa angrenzen. Ziel der Veranstaltung war es, Hintergründe und laufende Projekte des ehrgeizigen Großprojekts vorzustellen und Möglichkeiten der Zusammenarbeit auszuloten.Organisiert wurde die Veranstaltung vom Hanse-Office in Brüssel, in Zusammenarbeit mit EuroNatur und dem Projektbüro Grünes Band des Bundes für Umwelt- und Naturschutz Deutschland (BUND). Neben EuroNatur, dem BUND und dem finnischen Umweltministerium nahmen mehr als 30 geladene Gäste an dem Treffen teil. Als Koordinator des südlichen Abschnitts des Grünen Bands Europa setzt sich EuroNatur seit Jahren dafür ein, die Naturschätze entlang des einstigen Eisernen Vorhangs grenzübergreifend zu schützen. Die Vertreter der Regionen zeigten sich beindruckt von der großen Vielzahl der Naturschutzaktivitäten am Grünen Band und sagten zu, die Initiative zu unterstützen.
