For the preparation of a proposal, RHEA is currently searching for a Planetary Protection Engineer to support our client in Toulouse, France. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include To analyse Planetary Protection requirements and spacecraft design. To establishconfirmdetail the planetary protection plan, addressing, in particular the spacecraft and mission design features relevant for planetary protection especially but not only the Failure Detection Isolation and Recovery strategy, the assessment of the consequences to implement the project planetary protection requirements w.r.t. design, development, schedule and operations, the Planetary Protection implementation approach, the implementation of planetary protection activities in accordance with the overall project schedule. To refineconfirm the proposed approach for Planetary Protection analyses, the Contractor is invited to proceed to a bibliographic survey on this topic and investigate how planetary protection has beenis implemented in pastcurrent projects. Proceed with Planetary Protection analysis probability computation by defining The computation methodology, The redundancy management, All necessary inputs. Those analyses shall consider at least Singlemultiple pass analysis Spacecraft reliability, incl. hardware and operations Meteoroid impacts o Meteoroid fluxes Meteoroid density Meteoroid velocity and average impact angle Damage equations Knowledge of spacecraft state location, velocity vector Manoeuvre and planetsatellite ephemeris uncertainty Stochastic variability of the Mars atmospheric density with the amplitude of the solar cycle To interact with all projects disciplines involved in the assessment of collision probability To collectclarifychallenge the hypotheses and possibly iterate on the proposed approach in view of achieving the lowest possible collision probability while limiting the Planetary Protection impacts on Spacecraft design Environment, Mission analysis Spacecraft Operations Spacecraft design unit and material Reliability Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory University Degree in the relevant discipline Advanced level in English speaking, reading and writing.
