YOUR MISSION The GNSS engineerSW Developer will be part of GfRs newly established and growing NAVCAST service team. Navcast is a commercial High Accuracy Service from Spaceopal GmbH see httpspaceopal.comnavcast that aims at providing high accuracy positioning solutions to users worldwide. We are looking for highly motivated GNSS professionals andor Software Developers that have, besides distinct team player skills, also the ability to work independently in a structured manner and to adapt quickly to the challenges of this highly dynamic environment. The position offers lots of handson opportunities during the design, implementation and validation phase of NAVCAST and will challenge you to find innovative solutions to upcoming problems. The successful candidate will also have strong communication and networking skills. Your main responsibilities are Steering NAVCAST service evolution and software development Support the definition and implementation of NAVCAST Operations Procedures Support andor lead NAVCAST test and validation campaigns Ensure the implementation of NAVCAST improvements and service stability enhancements Monitor, evaluate and report on NAVCAST system and service performance parameters Operate NAVCAST hardware and software. YOUR QUALIFICATION The ideal candidate will either be a GNSS Navigation engineer with substantial SW development skills or a SW developer with a strong background in GNSS High Accuracy Navigation. Strong background in GNSS Navigation Profound knowledge of orbit determination and improvement, time transfer and precise point positioning PPP Ability to become an expert for the core processing engines for GNSS orbit BERNESE and clock determination RETICLE Significant experience with Linux environments hardware and software installations, shell scripting, network design, software debugging SW and data analyses with Fortran, Perl, Python, CC Experience with clean code programming and virtualization VMware, K8S, Terraform, Grafana, Elastic or Influx would be an asset Ability to also work independently Analytic problemsolving skills to diagnose and troubleshoot anomalies and trigger the correct mitigation actions Familiarity with GNSS system monitoring, PPP performance analyses and the generation of GNSS statusperformance reports would be an asset. Your qualification includes University degree in Space Science and Technology, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or in an equivalent field At least 2 years of experience in GNSS Navigation andor SW development Familiarity with basic satellite orbit and clock determination concepts Fluent in English, German would be an asset. Senior Software Design Engineer in Astrophysics

Are you our new colleague? Do you like to work on scientific software? Do you want to be part of the data analysis preparations for new space missions? Then you are the person we are looking for. You and SRON Netherlands Institute for Space Research With your work at SRON, you will prepare our data analysis software for Xray and infrared astronomy for the next generation of space observatories. The SPEX package is one of the worldleading spectral modelling codes for Xray astronomy. For the upcoming space missions XRISM and ATHENA, you will build a modular version of SPEX to enable it for use in future data analysis. For the RADEX package, which is widely used in the infraredsubmm astronomy community to model molecular spectra, the main goal is to expand the code to allow multimolecule and spectralspatial analysis. The code is currently used for ALMA and SOFIA, but an upgrade is also useful for upcoming observatories like JWST, METIS, GUSTO and OASIS. Your position and team You will be part of a team of 5 scientists and software engineers mf in the Astrophysics DataSoftware Group, which is part of the Astrophysics ASTRO program line at SRON. Our team supports data analysis and software projects within the ASTRO program with our expertise on calibration, advanced data analysis methods and software development. You will be based at our new location in Leiden. For the SPEX and RADEX projects, you will closely collaborate with the astronomers developing the code. You will therefore gain handson experience in developing scientific software that is specifically tailored to the needs of cuttingedge research. Your project During the first two years of the appointment, you will contribute to the SPEX software package by creating separate modules and documented interfaces APIs for the atomic data, spectral modelling and spectral fitting features of SPEX. In the final six months, you will add spectralspatial and multimolecule capability to the RADEX software package. Both packages are mainly written in the Fortran programming language. Position requirements We are looking for a person with a background in scientific computing or similar at an academic level. Clear assets will be strong programming skills in either Python, C andor Fortran, and handson experience with objectorientedmodular software design. Further Fortran training on the job is possible. Furthermore, you are expected to work accurately and in a structured way. Good English language skills speaking and writing and the ability to both work in a team and independently are a necessity for us.
