Telespazio VEGA Deutschland has been supporting the European Space Industry for over 30 years, including ESA, DLR, EUMETSAT and CNES. We are looking for an experienced engineer to work fully on customer side in EUMETSAT. Starting date would be latest 1st of January 2015 and submission deadline for applicants is 17th of October 2014. ResponsibilitiesDuties In the EU FP7 project ERACLIM2 at EUMETSAT Contributions to product and algorithm specifications Implementation of operational product processing chains in the reprocessing environment Implementation of operational processors into the operational reprocessing chains Development and implementation of operational functional and product quality monitoring procedures Analysis of resulting product quality QualificationsExperience University degree Several years of experience in implementing operational data processing software for satellite meteorological instruments Several years of experience validating satellite derived meteorological products Essentiel Skills UNIX application development and testing in C, C and Fortran 9095 Scripting languages such as Python, Perl, TclTk, shell Software build environments and tools such as make, imake, debuggers, insure Desirable Skills Data bases such as MySQL and Oracle Calibration of satellite observations Utilisation of satellite and climatological data sets Use of satellite data in modelbased reanalysis Atmospheric radiative transfer Inversion methods for retrieval of geophysical parameters Source code control systems, such as Subversion, Rational ClearCase or CVS Qualities Team player Good interpersonal and communication skills.
