The Position Climate change is affecting our life more and more, therefore not only weather forecasting but also Earth Observation are facing new challenges. New needs for higher temporal, spatial and spectral resolution, new instruments, all this becomes reality with the Meteosat Third Generation launched and operated by our customer EUMETSAT in 2021. For our team onsite EUMETSAT we are looking for an Algorithm Specialist to support the development of the MTG Lightning Imager MTG LI Reference Processor. It is fulltime and permanent and expected starting date will be around June 2020. We are looking forward to meeting you! ResponsibilitiesDuties Your principal task will be the design and development of Level1b and Level2 algorithms for the MTG LI Reference Processor in strong cooperation with our team and EUMETSAT engineers. A large variety of different filtering and calibration algorithms are keen on being developed by you! QualificationsExperience What are we looking for? Maybe for you, with at least 2 years of experience in satellite instruments with a proven focus on Satellite instrument characteristics for earth observation visiblenearinfrared range of the spectrum Scientific instrument data simulation Level0 to Level1b calibration Of course, you are easily understanding the relating physics processes in such satellite instruments. Essential Skills You are daily working with CC in a LinuxUnix environment and the latest software development tools and methods are your daily business. You have already gained a lot of experience with prototyping and plotting tools such as IDL and python and software build environments and tools make, imake are no loanword. Teamwork and ones own initiative is what you enjoy Capable of working both individually and independently on assigned responsibilities, while you are part of the system team. We are of course looking for good interpersonal and communication skills! NonEssential Skills Ideally, you are well familiar with the specifications, design, and coding of Level0 to Level1b data processing systems for satellite instruments.
