A new role for a Configuration Controller in Earth Observation, Navigation Science has arisen in Portsmouth The succesful candidate will be responsible for managing the configuration on the PDM tool day to day with periodic supervision and guidance from the Configuration Manager. This role applies change control techniques and processes within the SPRINT PMC and CONNECT Windchill company tools and requires to have a deep understanding and ability in the product, function, assembly and asbuilt trees and views in both tools, as well as the ability and willingness to handle documentation in both tools, and secure manual documentation processing. Training in the company tools will be given according to the projects assignment and candidate experience need. Internal Relationships As a member of one or more product or project teams, provide advice and guidance on Configuration Management and Technical Data Management issues. Act as the central point of contact for the assigned product and project teams and be the issuing and distribution authority for formal product data. External Relationships Provide an interface for all formal data transactions from external sources and from different contractual levels within the company. Be aware of the customer CM requirements for the company and flow down to lower tier subcontractors. Inputs CM customer requirements standards and company management systems methods, processes and related tools projectproductservices needs e.g. objectives, planning, cost all projectproductservices configuration management relevant data documentation e.g. requirements, design, manufacturing service documentation, changes, deviations along the entire product life cycle . Mission Define and implement configuration management methods, processes and related tools along the entire product life cycle to ensure the availability and consistency of relevant data e.g. requirements, design, manufacturing service documentation, changes, deviations and productservices configuration consistency. Outputs Consolidated and consistent product data along the product life cycle through product baselines and configuration management status accounting and or CM documents e.g. CMPlan. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Perform configuration management define, plan, schedule and organize CM activities in the programmeproject context over the entire product life cycle. Identify configuration items to be placed under their formal configuration control. Identify the requirements and the functional and physical characteristics of those configuration items. Ensure configuration control control and document changes to those characteristics and operate effective Configuration Control Boards CCB. Ensure configuration status accounting record, retrieve and report configuration status. Ensure configuration verification and audit verify achievement of required product characteristics. Jobtechnical knowledge Specialist knowledge of CM tools and methodology. Understanding of ECSSMST40C. Required qualification level Engineering degree, HNC, or similar. Essential requirements At least 3 years experience in an engineering environment design, assembly, test Windchill experience is a priority for this position Proactive with proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels speaking, listening, written, and to win recognition and buyin for Configuration Management. Good organisational and interpersonal skills. Fluent English spoken and written. Willing to occasionally travel as part of the UK national and transnational initiatives short trips in Europe up to 4 times a year. Extra travel may be required in some project assignments. Desirable requirements Understanding of EADSCDS001 EADS CM policy, Space Industry experience. CMII qualification. Transverse industrial knowledge RM, ERP . Process improvement oriented.
