2016-09-30 08:51:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Qualcomm is in talks to acquire NXP Semiconductors for over USD 30 billion. The companies could strike an agreement in the next two to three months, people familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal. NXP acquired Freescale last year, but Qualcomm has yet to play a major role in the latest consolidation of the semiconductor industry. The merger would see Qualcomm expand beyond its traditional wireless business into new areas such as the automotive market.
