Telecoms M&A reaches $136bn so far in 2014

Announced M&A transactions in the telecommunications sector total US$135.6 billion so far during 2014, down 46% from the value registered during the same period last year . Telecoms is the only sector to see a decline in M&A from last year, although last year's total was inflated by Verizon's US$130.3 billion acquisition of Vodafone's stake in the Verizon Wireless joint venture.
