HE Space is a successful international space company. For over 30 years, we have been supporting our customers with qualified experts in the field of engineering, science and administration. We are currently looking for a Mission Manager to support our customer in the United Kingdom. Mission Manager Our customer, Avanti Telecommunications is a world leader in satellite data communications. It pioneered the use of high throughput satellites at the Kaband frequencies. Major organisations are now using its networks for cellular backhaul, IP trunking, complex government and enterprise networks and video services, as well as broadband. HE Space is supporting Avanti in the search for the HYLAS 3 Mission Manager. In this senior role you will be responsible for the ongoing procurement of the HYLAS 3 mission through system and space segment level, taking into account performance, cost and schedule requirements. At space segment level the HYLAS 3 Mission Manager will be responsible for the payload, its compatibility with the platform, launch vehicle, ground segment and regulatory requirements. Key Tasks and Responsibilities Deliver the HYLAS 3 mission to schedule, cost and performance Maintain and implement the mission project management plan Oversee requirements at all levels including verification and validation Oversee the HYLAS 3 interface compatibility with the space segment, platform, launch vehicle, ground segment and regulations. Execute contracts Be the primary interface between Avanti and the payload manufacturers project team Be the primary interface between Avanti and those parties connected with the embarkation of the HYLAS 3 payload onboard EDRSC Ensure that the payload manufacturer adheres to the payload procurement contract requirements Be the escalation path for the Ground Segment Manager on the mission Ensure that each contract is delivered on schedule, to cost and performance Lead the Avanti team Monitor the requirements for project staffing and associated budgets Project manage the HYLAS 3 Mission team within Avanti Project and line manage the space segment team within Avanti Assign activities and responsibilities to Avanti team members andor consultants ensuring that the definition, design, integration, acceptance and delivery of the mission is subjected to full professional scrutiny Project manage the mission Undertake budgeting and financial control of resources Maintain an action log and ensure actions and responses are assigned to the relevant staff Organise the receipt, management and storage of all configuration controlled project documentation Ensure all requests for Deviation or Waiver and Contract Change RequestsNotes are processed with full consideration being given to the specification, schedule and overall system performance Manage risk in accordance with Avanti plans and procedures Forecast future trends in the project, especially with respect to performance, quality, reliability and schedule Proactively manage the resolution of major issues affecting quality, reliability, schedule, budget and performance Organise and or attend major reviews. Report on progress Track and report progress to the Engineering Director on a monthly basis in a formal review and by exception as necessary Track and report progress to other stakeholders and obtain their progress reports in line with contract requirements. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience A degree in aerospace engineering or related engineering discipline Significant demonstrable experience of project management within the satellite industry Experience of working to satellite or payload contracts, requirements, statements of work and test plans Excellent organisational skills with a proven record of delivering projects in a timely manner Excellent attention to detail with the ability to maintain detailed and accurate records and follow up to ensure agreed actions are completed Experience of working independently and remotely in a responsible role Experience of setting and managing budgets and schedules Proven excellent problem solving skills Ability to proactively identify and respond to future trends in a project. Excellent interpersonal skills with experience of managing relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders Ability to demonstrate assertiveness when liaising with stakeholders History of effective line management and team leadership. Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
